The Wine and Food Pairing Experience

The wine and food pairing experience is when you take fine wines and delicious foods and combine them, complimenting their different tastes. This has become something I am so into and I keep learning more about it. I love food and I love wine. It’s a perfect combo, as far as I’m concerned.

As you learned in the presentation above, not all wines are equal. Also, a TRUE fine wine is not something you’d pick up at the grocery store. You’ll see a great variety, sure, but not the true fine wines here. These are good quality, and when paired with food, it’s like MAGIC!

Start with your wines for the food-tasting experience:

When some people do wine tastings, they have several wines to choose and taste from. I’ve been to wine tastings at wineries near where I live, and we start with white and go to red. I’ve also gone from red to white, dry to sweet, and sometimes I’ve only stuck with one color. Either way, you do what works for you. In my house, we have lots of food out and try a bottle at a time with what we’re eating, because we are all tasting it. These wines definitely do not disappoint. And these are not filled with the things you find in a store. This is finally a wine club I could afford that produces good quality liquid art.

What to eat while drinking wine…

Charcuterie Board: I cannot say I’m really great at making these. They are beautiful and I have a friend who perfected it, in my opinion. But when I do attempt them, I usually have some salty meats like salami and ham. I’ll put a couple of ramekins out with olives, nuts, and some white cheddar cheese (my favorite) and other delicious snacks I can bring forth. Cut-up apples, grapes, and melon or berries are also favored.

Appetizers/Starters: Ever since I discovered my air fryer, I was obsessed with trying everything I could cook in it. A family favorite is making chicken wings. So easy to prepare and with a sip of some great wine, the flavor pops. I love making chicken quesadillas or putting out guac and chips. I like to make this great and easy dip to put out with corn chip scoops. I’m the “hodge-podge” kind of hostess. I want everyone to help themselves to do whatever looks good, fill a plate, sip some wine, and chill in my home.

Main Course: Most of the time, we snack on appetizers and sip our wine. Once in a while, however, I’ll have neighbors over for a main dish like my pasta sauce or some meatloaf. Here’s when we experience the pairing differently because I like to make things from scratch. If I spice things correctly, the wine will make those flavors pop delightfully. At least that would be my hope for my guests! And if you’re blessed to taste this good quality meat with the wine, say a prayer of thanks, because your tastebuds will thank you!

Dessert: CHOCOLATE! Of course, it’s worth a mention, because it’s one of my favorite things to have while I taste wine. Can you really go wrong with a chocolate plate or chocolate cake?

So now that we have our wines and foods ready to go, let’s get magic happening!

Your wine-pairing experience can be whatever you want it to be. It’s versatile. Eat what you love and taste the different wines with what you eat. I love to cook anyway, so trying different recipes lets me try different flavors with different wines. I’ve discovered I’m not a “red wine person or white wine person” anymore. I can say I’ve tried all of these and love them all. I can’t wait to try more recipes with our newest one!

Entertaining should be fun and what better way to destress than to eat and drink good wine with good folks? Here is an amazingly fine wine that I can afford to have in my home. I’ve found that along with the experiences my taste buds are having, I’m also loving these accessories that go along with entertaining. They are excellent anytime gifts as well. I LOVE these!
