A Life-Changing Weekend

pbs

My first Event was in Orlando, and I didn’t realize how life-changing the weekend would be. I knew it wouldn’t be my last. I went alone, without the husband, with a wide-open mind, and was so glad I attended! Not only was I warmly greeted with kind words and hugs from people I have never met in person before, but I felt a buzz of positive energy the whole weekend from like-minded people. We all came from different walks of life, yet we were also there for the same reason. The Connection of Community.

The Power of Community

When I joined, I realized I needed to put everything I had into making this life change. After I stepped away from teaching, I knew I needed to find something else. There was a lot of soul-searching, prayers, and tears as I came to that decision. So I made a decision to put my time and energy into “the next thing,” which I did. I stumbled across a website unexpectedly and after some thinking, I pulled the trigger and started. I’m so glad I did! Not only do I have a kind of freedom I haven’t had with my other job, but I also experienced an amazing learning curve that brings me to where I am today. I came equipped with some skills from teaching, and I didn’t think I could do anything else.

We all have different experiences. We all have different walks of life. Most of us make taking care of our loved ones a priority. If you could do that, have time to do that, and make an income while you’re learning new things amongst amazing people, would you do it? Would you take what you learned and pay it forward once you learn it? That’s what I get to do. Every day. I finally found what I was looking for, and I didn’t even know I was looking for it.

I learned about the Power of Community and that it really does take a village. We are meant to be around other people, like it or not. We seek out connections while sharing in our successes and our miseries. How many of you out there have a life without heartache? Nobody? Great! Then we all have something in common. We are part of a community that truly cares about its members. This Community lifts its members up, teaching each other, and learning from each other. We get because we give, and that’s an amazing thing to be a part of!

A Different Kind of Training

I came prepared for a weekend of training. When I was going to any kind of training as a teacher, I was equipped with my backpack, pens/pencils, a computer, charger, and all else I needed to “work.” So coming to Orlando by myself I had it all packed and ready for training. Little did I know, I wouldn’t even need it for the trainings. During a break, however, I was able to post ads and do some work from the hotel room. What a way to “work!” A beautiful room with a beautiful view, not to mention a comfortable bed and a hot shower. Not a bad way to spend a “training” weekend event.

It turned out the “training” was more of a gathering of all of us in a conference room, a blending of great positive energy. It was all about getting inspired and listening to shared experiences from the wonderful leaders. The energy felt in the room was palpable. Instead of a “training,” it was more of a getting together as a community who normally gets together on Zoom. When you’ve got people who are basically strangers, welcoming you, hugging you, and talking to you like you’re family, you know you’re in the right place at the right time. The face-to-face interaction was more of a celebration for all accomplished and all there is to come.

The Celebration Dinner

While already buzzing from the human interaction with an amazing group of people, (or maybe it was the supply of brān® shared with all of us), it was time to get ready for dinner. Really, it was the highlight of the weekend. We know it was going to be good, because it would be paired with the new wine that was about to be revealed. We were told we should be so hungry, because the dinner would be THAT worth it. I couldn’t wait! The weekend was already life-changing, and we hadn’t even had the much anticipated dinner yet!

We dressed up, and took a lovely walk to a restaurant in Orlando a block away. It sure didn’t disappoint! I love a good salad bar, and this one was definitely a winner. As I was munching on my salad plate, I saw the gentlemen walking around with skewers of meat. And that’s when we were served the newly revealed wine, the Linda Horne. One of the BEST red wines I’ve ever had, I sipped it and slowly tasted the different meats and foods. The flavor pairings of this amazing wine popped with the amazing foods I was tasting. What a fun way to enjoy both a delectable meal and liquid art in a bottle! We were able to enjoy it for the rest of the meal and I was lucky enough to go home with a bottle.

Here’s What I Learned About This Community:

When I first joined this Community, I felt the welcome at my first Zoom meeting. I listened, followed directions on videos, and started building. While I learned a lot of the things initially on my own, I knew all I had to do was ask and I’d get the help I needed. I came across road blocks, of course, because I was learning something completely new. But I also knew that if I needed help to get through those road blocks, there would be someone on the other side, helping me. I talked to many people that weekend, sharing my struggles and my successes. Not only was I reassured and inspired, I also just generally took in as much information as I could. I had a feeling at one point that said, “I’m definitely supposed to be here.” What a great feeling to experience at a life-changing event!

Does this sound like something you’re ready for? Are you looking to change your outlook on how you spend your money and your precious time? This may be for you. I get to work anywhere I bring my computer. It’s amazing! If you like being part of something amazing, you can follow directions, and you like to learn new things, this could be it! You wouldn’t be alone, because you’ll be part of a special community that will lift you up to your greatest potential. The catch? Well, there really isn’t, unless you don’t like helping people. That’s really it. If you like to pay it forward and if you like to share what you know, then I guess that’s the catch. Personally, I found something that took any skills I used to have teaching and then utilize those skills plus many more new ones. Check this out!
